Winter hike

direct from your accommodation

When there is plenty of snow, in Großdorf on the 'Dorfer Feld', there is an easy, flat hiking piste available. The winter hike, which is approx. 3 km in length, can be started direct from the St. Hubertus. On side roads which have little traffic, the route proceeds through Freien, Stocker and Hasen to Großdorf and the start of the hiking trail. Reckon on approximately 30 minutes walking time per route. Anyone who would like to shorten the outward journey, can get to the winter hiking trail in just a few minutes by car. Parking is available in the centre of the village at Landammannsaal Großdorf at the Heckisau bus stop.

Circular route

through beautiful Bregenzerwald

Through the Vorsäß and Alpine area of Schetteregg you will find yourself on a prepared hiking piste, which is around 6 km in length and a 2 ½ hour variety-packed circuit hike. From Schetteregg the hiking piste proceeds initially to the Vorsäß areas of Eggatsberg and Hammeratsberg. Along the route you get to gaze in wonder at the Vorsäßhütten which are typical of Bregenzerwald. You will soon pass Unter Falzalpe and from there get to enjoy the dreamy views to the mountains of Bullerschkopf and Winterstaude, located in the south. Afterwards the path then climbs to Obere Falzalpe, continuing to the Ochsenhofalpe area and from there, back to the starting point again.

The start point in Schetteregg is accessible by car and bus in around 10 minutes.

  • Bus stops in Sippersegg and Dornbündt
  • Several times a day there is a 'Linienbus' service between Balderschwang and Hittisau
  • Hittisau is accessible by car in about 10 minutes
  • Parking available direct in the town centre
