In the snow-covered mountain landscapes, fairytale forests and the many enchanting viewing points that special charm of cross-country skiing draws you to Bregenzerwald.

For winter athletes who are cross-country enthusiasts, Bregenzerwald offers over 300km of tended slopes (skating slopes and classic slopes). They proceed through riparian zones, snow-covered forests, across wide pastures and past wood shingled houses, so typical of the area.

In winter in Schetteregg you can look forward to a 1.5km circuit course. The trails are near Egg and so very easily accessible from the St. Hubertus.

The 7 km Egg-Großdorf trail is ideal for children and beginners. When there is sufficient snow cover, right in Grossdorf there is an easy trail on the sunny 'Dorfer Feld', that both classic skiers and skaters can use. The trail is accessible from the St. Hubertus by car in just a few minutes and is a mere 1.4 km away. Access to the trail is at Holzschnitzerei Hammerer, behind Gasthaus Adleroder and at Heckisau bus stop (near the high bridge, towards Lingenau). Parking is available in the centre of the village at Landammannsaal Großdorf. Use of the trail is free of charge and inns in Großdorf tempt you in to enjoy a refreshment stop.

The most extensive range of trails

Cross-country skiers who really want to get a work-out will come across the most extensive range of trails available in the region a mere 10 minutes from our B&B in Hittisau. The trails in Sulzberg and Hittisau are linked with the trails in Bavarian Allgäu. From there, an 80 km trail proceeds to Balderschwang, and 63km away you will come to Au-Schoppernau, while 40 km away is Sulzberg-Oberreute. Parking is available right at the entrance area to the trails in the town centre and at the town hall.

Panorama trail and Nordic Sport Park in Sulzberg:

The town of Sulzberg in Bregenzerwald is 22 kilometres from the St. Hubertus and stands out thanks to its variety-packed trails in the Nordic Sport Park at around 1000 metres altitude. From the Panorama trail, the Club trail, the Moo trail, the Oberköhler trail and a Biathlon circuit, there is something for every winter sports fan who enjoys cross-country. The Nordic Sport Park is an ideal winter day excursion destination for you. Here there are some 20 km trails in classic and skating techniques available for cross-country skiers. 4 km trails have floodlighting. A few is payable for the trail in Nordic Sport Park. A day ticket costs € 5 (incl. Night-time cross-country skiing) or € 65 in the season. (As at Winter 2020/21).
